Over the past 20 years, the service sector has grown to become the largest economic sector in the Netherlands. Exports of services have grown even faster than exports of goods. The largest part of this sector is trade. Other main parts are transport, communications, banking, insurance and health care. Most companies do most of their work in the Netherlands. Companies that specialise in transport, engineering consultancy and trade do the most business in other countries.
